STRATEGIC PLANNING AND RETREAT LEADERSHIP

I started A. Wheeler Consulting, a boutique business consulting firm for nonprofits, in 2015. I always enjoyed the freedom that entrepreneurship offered, and was intent on maintaining a sole proprietorship to avoid the time it takes to manage a staff. The day came when I needed more expertise and hands on deck for a large client project.

Erin Donovan was at the top of my list to call for assisting with an all-day strategic planning session for my client. She has both lived and learned expertise in the field, having turned around a nonprofit enterprise as its Executive Director, and learned best practices as a certified nonprofit consultant through Maryland Nonprofits.

Her partnership was one of the best experiences I have had in business; we mined data, discussed strategy, debriefed and recapped for several months to update a strategic plan for a well-known Baltimore arts nonprofit.

The project was delivered on time and met the client's and Board members' satisfaction, and my fastidious nature. On strategic planning day, Erin was prepared, relaxed, engaging, and energetic while presenting for hours to a room of more than 30 Board members.

Erin is a serious and fun partner whose experience with nonprofits and leaders is bar none. She brings devotion, compassion, and authenticity to serving nonprofits, their staff and leaders. Erin made me feel comfortable letting go of the reins more so that I could accomplish other tasks on my plate.
